Information we collect

• Account information: email address, username, first and last name, and password when you sign up.
• Profile information: public username, member-since date, and any optional details you add to your profile.
• Location data: country, city, and approximate region you select or allow us to detect to show nearby families. Precise location is only collected if you explicitly grant browser permission.
• Family and listing data: subscription details, pricing, slots, payment due dates, messages, join requests, reviews, and reports you create or participate in.
• Payment information: we do not store card numbers. Stripe processes all payments and may collect billing details according to its privacy policy.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and technical logs to keep the service secure and reliable.

How we use your information

• Create and manage your account.
• Show relevant family listings based on your region and preferences.
• Enable chat, join requests, reviews, and notifications between members and hosts.
• Process subscriptions and Pro membership payments through Stripe.
• Send service updates, payment reminders, and support responses.
• Enforce our Terms of Service, prevent fraud, and moderate reports.

What other users can see

Your username, public profile, hosted families, membership status, and reviews are visible to other users as part of the service. Chat messages are visible to members of the same family. We do not display your email address or full payment details to other users.

Payments

All payments are handled by Stripe. We store only the minimum information needed to link your account to your Stripe customer record and subscription status. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy for details on how Stripe handles your data.

Cookies and storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your region and privacy preferences, and provide a smooth experience. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings, although doing so will sign you out.

Communications

We may send you in-app notifications and emails about join requests, chat messages, payment reminders, and important service updates. You can manage notification preferences in your settings.

Your rights and choices

• Access or update your profile information in Settings.
• Delete your account, which removes your profile and personal data subject to lawful retention needs.
• Request a copy of your data or ask questions about this policy by contacting support.

Family access info

Hosts can pin access instructions (such as an official invite link) for their family. This text is encrypted at rest and shown only to the host and approved members. Please never share account passwords here — use the provider's official family invite instead. Access info is deleted when the family is deleted.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Deleted accounts are removed from public view and purged according to our routine retention schedule.

Children's privacy

Famshare is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of Famshare after changes means you accept the revised policy.
